The national government has revoked the operating licenses of ten health insurance providers, a move intended to restructure the country’s healthcare system and ensure regulatory compliance. The action, taken Friday by the Superintendency of Health Services, marks a continuing effort to streamline the healthcare landscape.
Officials say the cancellations are part of a broader initiative to update and clarify the registry of healthcare providers, increasing transparency within the system. With these latest actions, more than 162 providers have been rejected since the current administration took office, according to government statements.
“This measure is part of the process of reorganizing and purging the registry of agents, with the aim of guaranteeing transparency, reliable information for users, and clear rules for those operating in the system,” a government spokesperson said. The spokesperson added that the affected providers had not demonstrated compliance with current regulatory requirements.
The decision brings the total number of providers facing rejection to 162, as the Superintendency intensifies its oversight to ensure that the registry accurately reflects active entities with enrolled members and fair market competition.
A significant portion of the 162 cancellations occurred in January, with as many as 20 entities removed from the registry in a single official bulletin. The move underscores the government’s commitment to stricter enforcement of healthcare regulations.
