MADRID — Argentine President Javier Milei arrived in Madrid on Friday afternoon, traveling in a black Mercedes-Benz accompanied by a security detail consisting of two vans and another vehicle carrying staff from his ceremonial team and other members of his traveling entourage. The presidential visit, and its associated costs, are drawing scrutiny following recent questions about travel expenses within his administration.
The expenses associated with the presidential aircraft, five-star accommodations for the accompanying delegation, internal transportation, and other costs during the stay are expected to total hundreds of thousands of dollars. This trip comes as Milei is scheduled to participate in the Madrid Economic Forum, a private event organized by Racks Labs and Abast, companies registered in the Principality of Andorra, and attended by members of the Spanish ultraright. The forum is not focused on attracting foreign investment.
