Gas service has been fully restored across Peru following repairs to a critical natural gas pipeline, officials announced Saturday, March 14, 2026. The restoration of service impacts both residential and vehicular fuel supplies, easing concerns after a period of disruption.
President Balcázar confirmed that the ducts of the natural gas pipeline are now fully repaired and operational, according to reports from El Peruano. The announcement follows what has been described as a period of “wait and sacrifice” for drivers, with the resumption of Compressed Natural Vehicle (GNV) supply at fueling stations reported earlier Saturday, according to RPP.
Repairs focused on a key pipeline in Camisea, and the restart of distribution across the country was confirmed by Revista Caretas. Light vehicle GNV supply was re-enabled starting in the early afternoon, as reported by Agencia Peruana de Noticias | ANDINA.
The successful completion of repairs marks the end of an emergency situation, and ensures continued access to natural gas for both homes and transportation. The incident underscores the importance of maintaining critical energy infrastructure.
