A fatal traffic accident occurred Friday evening, March 13, in the Villaggio Prenestino area of Rome. The incident resulted in one death, adding to a series of tragedies on Lazio roadways.
Fatal Crash Closes Road Near Villaggio Prenestino
The accident took place around 8:00 PM on Via del Fosso dell’Osa, near the Eurospin supermarket. Local police closed the road to traffic to allow investigators to work at the scene, and circulation on Via Polense was also restricted.
The collision involved a motorcycle and two cars at the intersection of Via Fosso dell’Osa and Via Filetto. The motorcyclist, a 52-year-old man from Rome riding a Suzuki GSX, died at the scene.
The drivers of the other vehicles involved – a 37-year-old woman from Rome driving a Smart For Two, and a 26-year-old Italian man operating an Opel Adam – were taken to the Policlinico di Tor Vergata hospital for evaluation.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Traffic Disrupted
Several public transportation routes have been diverted: bus lines 045, 055, 107, 314, 508 and 555 are currently operating on alternate routes.
Friday’s incident is the latest in a string of deadly crashes in the Lazio region. Three workers died in a crash on the A1 highway near Ceprano, while two people were killed on the Pontina highway. Another motorcyclist died earlier in the day on Via di Mezzocammino.
