Botafogo head coach Martín Anselmi is facing increased scrutiny following a 3-0 defeat to Flamengo on Saturday, March 14th, at Nilton Santos Stadium, according to reports.

“Anselmi’s position is precarious. Is there a possibility he could be dismissed? There is. This issue is being discussed, let’s say. There is pressure behind the scenes for changes to the club’s leadership. That possibility certainly exists. Anselmi is under a lot of pressure,” said journalist Wellington Arruda in a post-match live broadcast on the FogãoNET YouTube channel.

“There’s the Botafogo board, and then there are those who make the decisions. Those decision-makers were already completely skeptical, to put it mildly. Now, with the elimination from the Libertadores and this defeat, his position is remarkably shaky,” Arruda added.

Martín Anselmi received his third yellow card during Saturday’s loss and will be suspended for Wednesday’s match against Palmeiras at Allianz Parque.
