The Cercle Aloysia Obernai (CAO) cycling section is hosting its 37th annual bike exchange on Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd at the Saint-Joseph center, located on Avenue du Tertre in Obernai.
The event will accept all types of bicycles and scooters – both traditional and electric – for consignment between 1:30 PM and 5:30 PM on Saturday, March 21st. A small fee of €2 applies per bicycle submitted. CAO members will assist sellers in determining appropriate pricing for their items.
The sale itself will take place on Sunday, March 22nd from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. The club will retain a 10% commission on each sale. Sellers can collect any unsold items or payment checks between 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM on Sunday.
Growing Variety in Offerings
Last year, in 2025, a total of 142 bicycles were offered for sale, with 71 ultimately finding fresh owners. Organizers have noted an increasing trend toward electric bikes, reflecting evolving consumer preferences. Full-suspension mountain bikes for younger riders remain particularly popular.
The bike exchange also provides an opportunity to connect with club members and learn more about their activities. This type of community-driven event highlights the growing interest in sustainable transportation and the circular economy, where pre-owned goods find new life.
