Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is in good health and remains fully in control of the country’s affairs, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The confirmation comes amid speculation regarding Khamenei’s health following his appointment as Supreme Leader on March 8.
Araghchi’s statement, made in an interview with Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, addresses concerns that arose after Khamenei’s first public address as Supreme Leader – a pre-recorded speech broadcast by state media on March 12 – was delivered by a newsreader. This development underscores the importance of maintaining clarity regarding leadership stability in the region.
Araghchi also stated that Iran is open to regional initiatives aimed at achieving a just finish to the ongoing conflict. He reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to all ships, with the exception of vessels belonging to the United States and its allies. This position comes as tensions in the region remain high following a series of attacks and counter-attacks.
According to the foreign minister, there are currently no concrete proposals or initiatives on the table to resolve the existing conflict. The statement was made during an interview with The New Arab, and was also reported by IRNA and The New Arab. The announcement could influence future diplomatic talks and regional security arrangements.
