Célia Pelluet seamlessly blends two seemingly disparate worlds: quantum physics and stand-up comedy. The 28-year-old engineer is finding innovative ways to communicate complex scientific concepts through humor, a growing trend as technologists seek to make advanced fields more accessible.
Currently working at the National Centre for Space Studies (Cnes) in Toulouse, France, Pelluet spends her days contributing to space-related physics research. Yet, her evenings are dedicated to performing at comedy clubs in Bordeaux, where she hones her comedic timing and material. She is currently preparing a full-length present slated for release in 2026.
Pelluet’s unique background recently took center stage at the Festival des clics et des sciences in Paris on September 20, 2025. She was recognized as a Young Talent laureate of the 2023 L’Oréal UNESCO Prize for her work in science and advocacy for women in STEM fields.
A researcher at the Laboratoire photonique, numérique et nanoscience (LP2N) at the University of Bordeaux, Pelluet believes that making science engaging is crucial. “Making jokes is an experimental science,” she stated, highlighting the parallels between the iterative process of comedy and scientific inquiry.
She marked a personal journey with a tattoo commemorating a trip to Chile, a visible reminder of her experiences. Pelluet’s approach to science communication reflects a broader effort to demystify complex topics and inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.
