Joan Laporta has been re-elected as President of Barcelona after a decisive victory over Victor Font in Sunday’s election at Camp Nou, March 15.

Laporta secured 36,117 votes from a total of 48,400 cast, giving him a commanding lead of 24,643 votes over Font. This win will see Laporta lead Barcelona through to 2031.

However, 50 percent of eligible voters did not participate. Barcelona reported a participation rate of just 42.34 percent, from a total of 114,504 eligible members.

The vote tally included participation from coaches, players, and team officials. The election took place at Camp Nou following a La Liga match.

voting occurred after Barcelona’s 5-2 win against Sevilla, allowing all players and coaching staff to cast their ballots.

Beyond Camp Nou, voting was also available at four additional locations: Tarragona, Girona, Lleida, and Andorra. The election was broadcast live on the club’s official accounts.

“I won’t tell you who [I will choose] since it’s a secret,” said Flick in a press conference after the match against Sevilla, prior to the vote.

“Today is a special day. I watched it on television in my office at the stadium, the election is taking place, it’s special. I think everyone is also happy,” he added, according to ESPN.

Former Barça manager Xavi Hernandez, who recently called Laporta a “liar” regarding Lionel Messi, was also present at the voting.
