Organizers of the WRC rally in Estonia have revealed initial details regarding the event’s schedule. The competitive action will now begin in full on Friday afternoon.

Last year, the Shakedown stage took place on Thursday morning, followed by a ceremonial opening stage in the city of Tartu that evening.

However, this year, drivers won’t hit the track until Friday morning with the Uniküla Shakedown. The first competitive stage is slated to begin around midday on Friday, effectively shortening the rally week by a full day.

”The entire WRC series is currently undergoing various reforms – changes in the promoter and other modifications. One of these is an attempt to develop the rally week more compact,” Rally Estonia Managing Director Janno Sitans told Estonian media outlet Delfi.

”Following the new plan, reconnaissance of the course will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, allowing teams, which already have a lot of personnel, to arrive one day later. If Here’s possible throughout the season, the financial impact on the teams will be quite significant,”
he added.

Despite the rally week being reduced by one day, the overall length of the competition will remain unchanged. A total of 19 stages are planned on the rapid gravel roads of Estonia – just one fewer than last year.

The rally headquarters will remain at the Estonian National Museum in Tartu.

The event is scheduled to take place from July 17th to 19th.
