Kristofer Hivju, known for his roles in “Game of Thrones” and “The Fate of the Furious,” is set to lead the cast of “Sogn Murders,” a latest crime series coming to TV 2 Norway. The series, based on the popular books by Jørgen Jæger, began filming this week in Sogn, Norway.
Hivju will play police investigator Ole Vik, a role he calls “a great honor.” “We see a great honor to play the iconic Ole Vik. Jørgen Jæger has written fantastic books, and we look forward to bringing his universe to the television screen,” Hivju said. Jæger is one of Norway’s best-selling crime writers, having sold over 1.7 million books featuring Ole Vik and his colleague Cecilie Hopen.
“Sogn Murders” unfolds in a picturesque fruit-growing village nestled deep within a fjord in Sogn, a location that initially appears idyllic. Ole Vik heads the local police station, which faces potential closure due to district mergers, but he’s fighting to keep it open. The tranquility of the community is disrupted when a suspicious death occurs, prompting an investigation into a possible criminal network.
Eili Harboe joins Hivju as Cecilie Hopen, a police investigator from the National Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos) who goes undercover as a police academy student. The series explores the dynamic between these “two worlds” and “opposite extremes,” as the investigators form an “unstoppable duo” when working together. The indicate promises a compelling blend of character-driven drama and suspenseful mystery, a popular formula in the current television landscape.
The plot thickens as Cecilie navigates the challenges of posing as a student at a station facing closure, all while trying to determine if the death was truly accidental. The series is expected to delve into the cracks beneath the surface of this seemingly perfect community.
