Former President Donald Trump has questioned the future of NATO, suggesting the alliance may be in “exceptionally bad shape” if its members don’t take a more active role in securing the critical Strait of Hormuz. The remarks approach after Iran reportedly blocked the waterway following recent U.S. And Israeli attacks within the region.

Donald Trump żądał pomocy od NATO. Polacy zabrali głos
Several NATO allies, including Germany, Greece, and the United Kingdom, have declined to participate in a military intervention in the Middle East, according to reports. The situation underscores growing tensions between the U.S. And some of its key allies regarding security commitments in the region.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was recently asked about the possibility of providing military assistance to the U.S. In the Strait of Hormuz. Tusk firmly stated that Poland would not deploy troops to Iran.
A recent poll conducted by SW Research for Onet indicates that a majority of Polish citizens agree with their leader’s stance. The survey found that 65.1 percent of respondents believe Poland should not militarily support the U.S. In the Strait of Hormuz, whereas only 10 percent hold the opposite view. Roughly one-quarter of those surveyed expressed no opinion.
Donald Trump uderzył w sojuszników. “Nie potrzebujemy nikogo”
On Tuesday, Trump stated that the U.S. Had been informed by “most” NATO allies that they do not wish to engage in a military operation against Iran.
“I am not surprised by their actions, as I have always considered NATO, where we spend hundreds of billions of dollars a year to protect the same countries, a one-way street — we will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, especially in times of need,” the former president wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Trump also claimed that U.S. Forces have “decimated” the Iranian military. “Because we have been so successful militarily, we do not ‘need’ or want the help of NATO countries — NEVER HAVE! Likewise, Japan, Australia, and South Korea. Frankly, as President of the United States of America, by far the most powerful country in the world, WE DO NOT NEED ANYONE! Thank you,” Trump concluded.

The SW Research poll for Onet was conducted on March 18, 2026, using an online (CAWI — Computer-Assisted Web Interview) method with the SW Panel. The study included 811 interviews on a national sample of adults. A quota sampling method was used — the sample was representative of the total distribution of gender, age, and size of place of residence.
