Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Indonesian business leader Michael Bambang Hartono, owner of the Djarum Group, passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 19, 2026, at 1:15 PM Singapore time. He was 86 years classic.

News of the passing was received by CNBC Indonesia from a message of condolence posted by the Thailand Bridge Association. As of this report, details regarding the burial location have not yet been released.
The late Mr. Hartono was an active bridge player, even representing Indonesia in the sport at the 2018 Asian Games.
The wealthiest Indonesian at the time, Hartono was the oldest athlete to compete for Indonesia at the 2018 Asian Games, contributing a bronze medal to the nation. He received a bonus of Rp 250 million from President Joko Widodo for his achievement.
