Former reality television contestant Rasťo Zvara has transitioned into acting, taking on a role in the popular Slovakian television series Sľub (Promise). The move marks Zvara’s first foray into professional acting, following his appearance on the show Ruža pre nevestu (Rose for the Bride).
Zvara portrays Gusto Pekár, a charming and adventurous nature enthusiast in the series, which is set in 1980s Czechoslovakia. According to Markíza.sk, his character develops a connection with Zuzana Fraňová, a teacher played by Adriána Brnčalová.
“I was surprised, to be honest. I didn’t expect it at all,” Zvara said regarding the opportunity. “It came about spontaneously and quite quickly, but I didn’t have to think too long about it and I was eager to try it. And it was a great experience, I don’t regret it at all.”
The role has been well-received by fans, who have praised Zvara’s natural performance. Odzadu.sk reports that viewers were particularly surprised by intimate scenes featuring Zvara, expressing their enthusiasm online.
Zvara described the experience as a challenge, noting his limited prior experience with cameras beyond his time on Ruža pre nevestu. He also commented that the on-screen chemistry with Brnčalová felt natural. “It was different than kissing girls on the reality show,” he stated.
The casting represents an unconventional move for the series, bringing in a personality known from reality television into a scripted drama. Strategie.hnonline.sk highlights that this is Zvara’s first acting role in a major Slovakian production.
Sľub airs on Markíza, and recent episodes are also available on the Voyo platform. The unexpected casting has generated significant buzz around the show, potentially broadening its audience reach.
