A fiery contest between the Western Bulldogs and the Adelaide Crows took a turn on Friday, March 20, 2026, as Sam Darcy of the Bulldogs found himself in hot water after a pair of incidents. The Bulldogs player lost his composure following a contested mark and committed a high shot against Jordon Butts.

The situation escalated quickly when Darcy then threw Josh Worrell to the ground, sending Butts tumbling towards the goal line. The physicality is clearly ramping up as both teams battle for position in the early stages of the season.

Adding to the unusual night, Adelaide’s Rory Laird, in his 87th career game, missed a rare opportunity after previously kicking his first career goal.

The Bulldogs are responding to the challenge, with coach Luke Beveridge moving from the coach’s box down to the team bench in an attempt to influence the game.

As the third quarter winds down, the Bulldogs lead the Crows 67-54 with six minutes remaining.
