Garmin smartwatch users can now send and respond to messages directly from their wrists thanks to a new integration with WhatsApp. The feature offers a more convenient way to stay in touch without constantly reaching for a smartphone.
The WhatsApp application is now available for select Garmin smartwatches and can be downloaded for free through the Connect IQ Store. With the app, users can read incoming messages, reply to chats and even react with emojis directly from their smartwatch display.

The update allows Garmin smartwatches to display up to 10 recent messages within a single conversation. Users can type replies using a small keyboard available on the watch or send quick reactions to received messages.
In addition to messaging, the smartwatch can also display notifications for incoming WhatsApp calls. But, users can only reject calls from their wrist; answering a call still requires using a smartphone.
The integration is available on several recent Garmin smartwatch lines, including the fÄ“nix, Forerunner, Venu, and vÃvoactive series. The feature requires a connection to a smartphone with an active WhatsApp application to receive messages on the smartwatch.
This collaboration represents a significant step for Garmin as it expands the capabilities of its smartwatches, traditionally known for their strength in sports and fitness tracking. The addition of WhatsApp support allows users to remain connected to personal conversations even while exercising or engaging in outdoor activities.
WhatsApp stated that the app’s availability aims to retain more people connected across various devices.
“WhatsApp helps people stay connected no matter the platform they use,” said WhatsApp Product Management Director, as quoted by Tech Radar on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
“We are proud to bring WhatsApp to Garmin smartwatches so more people can continue their personal conversations right from their wrist,” they added.
The launch of the WhatsApp application also marks one of the first third-party messaging apps available directly on the Garmin smartwatch ecosystem.
