After a four-year hiatus, broadcaster Lee Hwi-jae is returning to television with an upcoming appearance on a popular variety show.
KBS 2TV’s “Immortal Song” previewed its next episode, airing March 28, on Friday, March 21.
The preview revealed that Song Il-gook, Oh Man-seok, Hong Seok-cheon, Park Seong-kwang, Kim Shin-young, and RalaRal will be featured in the episode, which is themed “2026 Entertainment King Battle.”
Following the title card, the preview showed Lee Hwi-jae taking the stage. Dressed in a suit, he appeared visibly nervous as he approached the microphone.
Making his first television appearance in four years, Lee Hwi-jae introduced himself, saying, “Hello, I will greet you. It’s nice to meet you. I’m Lee Hwi-jae.”
The preview also showed Lee Hwi-jae with tears welling up in his eyes, struggling to hold back his emotions.

Lee Hwi-jae participated in the recording of KBS 2TV’s “Immortal Song” on March 16 at the KBS Latest Hall in Yeouido-dong, Seoul. This marks Lee Hwi-jae’s first broadcast appearance in approximately four years, following his departure as an MC on KBS 2TV’s entertainment news program “Yearly Live” in April 2022.
Lee Hwi-jae was once a leading MC, hosting numerous popular programs. Though, he became embroiled in controversy over a dispute with a neighbor regarding noise complaints, allegations of failing to pay for toys at an amusement park involving his wife, Moon Jung-won, and criticism of his hosting style on variety shows and awards ceremonies.
Following his exit from “Yearly Live” in 2022, he ceased public activities, and reports surfaced that he had moved to Canada with his family, sparking retirement rumors. Lee Hwi-jae has reportedly been traveling between Korea and Canada during this time.
Lee Hwi-jae married florist Moon Jung-won in 2010 and they have twin sons. The family gained fame through their appearances on KBS 2TV’s reality show “The Return of Superman.”
