Iran Strikes Tel Aviv in Escalating Conflict
Tel Aviv came under direct missile attack from Iran on Tuesday night, March 18, 2026, marking a significant escalation in tensions between the two nations. The strikes, launched by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, targeted the Ramat Gan neighborhood east of Tel Aviv, resulting in the deaths of two people, according to Israeli officials.
Video footage captured the aftermath of the attack, showing a car engulfed in flames and debris scattered across the street as emergency responders worked at the scene. Footage of the fiery destruction was released by Magen David Adom.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard stated the attack was in retaliation for the killing of Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. The Guard reportedly deployed Khorramshahr-4 and Qadr missiles, claiming they are designed to evade missile defense systems and overwhelm radar tracking.
The victims killed in the overnight strike were a couple in their 70s, according to published reports. This attack is part of a rapidly escalating cycle of retaliation that began on February 28 following strikes by the U.S. And Israel on Iranian targets, which have resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian officials, including Larijani and Gen. Gholam Reza Soleimani, head of the Revolutionary Guard’s Basij militia.
The attack utilized cluster-warhead ballistic missiles, specifically the Khorramshahr-4, in what Iranian sources identified as Wave 58 of Operation “True Promise-4.” This represents a shift toward saturation warfare, designed to overwhelm Israel’s air defense systems.
The leverage of cluster munitions, capable of releasing multiple bomblets over a wide area, is intended to complicate interception efforts. The development underscores the growing intensity of the conflict and the challenges facing Israel’s defense capabilities.
According to reports, over 100 people were injured in the attacks, including children, in the southern Israeli towns of Arad and Dimona. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu described the evening as a “difficult evening” in the ongoing battle for the future.
