The Polish government has announced increased spending on housing policy and expanded initiatives aimed at addressing housing shortages. According to Finance and Economic Minister Andrzej Domanski, approximately 4 million Polish families do not meet the requirements for social housing but also cannot afford to purchase property on the open market, as reported by Polish business news portal Puls Biznesu.
A record 6.7 billion PLN (1.57 billion EUR) has been allocated for housing construction in the 2026 budget. Including funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO), total support will reach 8.7 billion PLN (2.04 billion EUR). Domanski stated, “This will allow for the financing of 18,000 municipal and social housing units to be built or renovated in 2026.” He added that a total of 35,000 housing units will be completed between 2024 and 2026.
