Naughty Dog has brought back one of the original stars of The Last of Us to work on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
It’s been some time since Neil Druckmann and his team first announced their new game. In recent months, Naughty Dog has frequently posted job openings that have been interpreted as a sign the project is entering its final stages of development. Now, the project lead himself has sparked further excitement among fans.
While Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet hasn’t yet received a full reveal, it’s already known that the cast will include actors with ties to The Last of Us. This includes Tati Gabriele, who will now take on a leading role in Naughty Dog’s new title, and Tony Dalton, known for his portrayal of Joel’s father. Now, it appears Neil Druckmann has gone a step further, not only recruiting actors from the television adaptation but also those who worked on the original game.
The studio head and creator, Neil Druckmann, shared a post on his Instagram account indicating that Merle Dandridge, who played the pivotal character Marlene in both the television series and the game, will be joining the cast of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. While the specifics of Dandridge’s role remain unknown, Druckmann’s post strongly suggests she won’t simply be making a cameo appearance, but will have a substantial role requiring motion capture work.
The return of Dandridge, a familiar face to fans of The Last of Us, signals Naughty Dog’s commitment to building a strong narrative connection between its projects. This casting choice is likely to generate significant anticipation as fans await further details about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and its place within the studio’s growing universe.
