ArtPlay and 505 Games first announced plans for a follow-up to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night five years ago. The game, a spiritual successor to the Castlevania series, was officially revealed as Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement during the Summer Game Fest in June 2025.
Initially, the title was slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. Though, recent information suggests Nintendo Switch support is also in development. According to a LinkedIn post by an employee of publisher 505 Games, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement will indeed be coming to the Switch.
The same post also indicates that an unannounced title is currently in the works for the Switch 2, expected to launch in 2026. This could potentially be another installment in the Bloodstained universe, though details remain scarce. The addition of Switch support expands the potential audience for the game, bringing the gothic action-RPG to a wider range of players.
The development team recently experienced a loss with the passing of Konami veteran Shutaro Iida, who contributed to Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement before succumbing to cancer last month. The game will serve as his final project, though he was unable to see its completion.
