Agricultural trade between Morocco and the European Union is showing mixed results for the 2025-2026 campaign. Data from the European Commission indicates a slight decrease in tomato shipments and a more significant contraction in zucchini exports. As of March 15, cumulative figures show 203,390 tonnes of tomatoes and 22,930 tonnes of zucchini have been sold in the EU market.

The tariff quota allocated to Morocco for the current campaign, running from October 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, is more than 71% utilized. According to available data, “the volume of tomatoes authorized for export to the European Union reaches 285,000 tonnes; as of March 15, Moroccan deliveries total 203,390 tonnes, representing 71.36% of the quota.”

Year-over-year comparisons reveal a moderate decline, with shipments down “2.6% compared to the previous campaign between October 1st and March 15th.” Weekly volume remains strong, with 9,930 tonnes of Moroccan tomatoes entering the EU market between March 9th and March 15th.

Zucchini Sales See Sharper Decline

The zucchini segment is experiencing a more pronounced downturn. Against a quota of 56,000 tonnes applicable from October 1st to April 20th, volumes sold as of March 15th total 22,930 tonnes, or 40.95% of the authorized amount.

Detailed data shows that “since the start of the contingent zucchini export campaign to the European Union, set from October 1st to April 20th, volumes sold by Morocco reach 22,930 tonnes, corresponding to 40.95% of the quota.” The gap compared to the previous campaign is particularly noticeable, with shipments “30.4% lower than the quantities observed at the same period of the previous campaign.” Weekly flow remains limited, with 541 tonnes sold between March 9th and March 15th.
