“We agreed to arrange a meeting in the near future, including my proposal to visit Jakarta as a step to strengthen the already close bilateral relationship,” Anwar Ibrahim wrote on X, Tuesday, March 24th.
The phone conversation between Anwar and Prabowo covered a range of global issues, including the conflict between the United States-Israel and Iran.
Both leaders exchanged views on the Israel-Iran conflict and the importance of sustainable diplomatic approaches.
“We both called for peace, and I informed President Prabowo that Malaysia will continue to support and strengthen diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the Iran-Israel conflict, so that tensions can be eased, civilian lives can be protected, and meaningful negotiations can be opened towards a peaceful and lasting resolution,” Anwar stated.
The U.S.-Israel vs. Iran war erupted on February 28th, expanding to create a global energy crisis as energy facilities in the Middle East have been impacted.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that attacks on Iranian facilities and infrastructure would be halted for five days, citing constructive discussions between the U.S. And Iran. However, Iran has denied any communication with the United States, accusing Trump of attempting to buy time to rebuild military strength.
Iran has affirmed that its war against the U.S.-Israel will continue.
