PlayStation announced today, March 24, 2026, the closure of Dark Outlaw Games, a development team established just one year prior. The studio was led by Jason Blundell, previously known for his work on the zombie mode within the Call of Duty franchise.
The team was in the early stages of development on its first project when the decision to close was made. This marks the second studio led by Blundell to be shuttered by Sony, following the previous closure of Deviation Games. According to reports, Sony will announce staff reductions within its U.S. And U.K. Divisions as a result of the studio’s closure. The move underscores the challenges inherent in game development and the evolving strategies of major players in the industry.
