Sharon Stone is getting candid about the most memorable kiss of her career, revealing who she considers to be the absolute best kisser in Hollywood.
In a recent interview on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, the 68-year-old actress named her best on-screen kiss, attributing the honor to Robert De Niro during the filming of the 1995 crime thriller Casino. Describing the 82-year-old actor as “the best kisser in the business,” Stone admitted that the experience left her “knocked out.”
Stone recalled a specific scene where her character, a hustler, attempts to get money from De Niro’s character, Sam “Ace” Rothstein, to use the bathroom. After he offered $50, Stone’s character questioned if that was enough, prompting De Niro to give her $100. It was then that she leaned over to kiss him—a moment she says “kissed me out of my shoes.”
The chemistry was so palpable that even director Martin Scorsese was impressed. According to Stone, Scorsese initially called “cut” and told the pair they had the shot, but offered another take if they wanted it. Stone quipped that she and De Niro looked at each other and agreed, “Yeah, I suppose maybe we need one more.”
This isn’t the first time the Basic Instinct star has lauded De Niro’s skills. During a September 2020 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she previously described him as “far and away the best kisser” in the industry, calling that specific Casino scene the “pinnacle” of on-screen kisses.
Stone noted that the intensity of the moment was heightened by her professional respect for her co-star, calling De Niro “the actor I admired the most” and expressing that she simply wanted to be able to “hold my own” while acting across from him. The high-voltage performance ultimately earned Stone a Golden Globe Award, marking a definitive highlight of her celebrated career.
