Warner Bros. Pictures took over CinemaCon 2026 with a massive slate of upcoming projects, signaling a strategic push to balance bold original cinema with the expansion of its most powerful franchise IPs. From the sands of Arrakis to the depths of Middle-earth, the studio’s presentation provided a comprehensive look at the future of its cinematic universe.
Dune: Part Three Previews Epic Scale
Attendees were treated to footage from Dune: Part Three that promised an escalation in scale. The sequence featured a scene reminiscent of the Normandy beach landing from Saving Private Ryan, but transposed to an alien world. The footage depicted Stilgar and the Fremen charging toward towering cannons that rise from the ground like mountains.

The tension was high as the Fremen were shown on a spaceship, contemplative and aware that their landing could mark the end. In a moment of wonder, the Fremen are seen reacting to rain—describing the water falling from the sky as a miracle—even as they continue their assault on the massive enemy fortifications.
The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum Cast and Release Date

A teaser clip showed Gollum in a cave, speaking to himself about the necessity of keeping his story a secret. However, the biggest casting shake-up is the reveal that Jamie Dornan will step into the role of Strider/Aragorn, taking over for Viggo Mortensen. The ensemble cast also includes:
- Andy Serkis as Gollum/Sméagol
- Ian McKellen as Gandalf
- Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins
- Lee Pace as Thranduil
- Kate Winslet as Marigol
- Leo Woodall as Halvard
A Wave of Remakes and Modern Adventures
Beyond the tentpole franchises, the studio is diving back into the archives. Plans are officially in motion for remakes of two 1997 classics: Escape from New York and Howling. This includes a reboot of John Carpenter’s science fiction staple, sparking immediate fan discussions regarding the potential return of Kurt Russell.
Meanwhile, the beloved bear is returning to the considerable screen. It was announced that Paddington will receive a fourth film as well as a brand-new animated feature.
Additional Highlights
The CinemaCon presentation also teased several other titles on the horizon, including Mortal Kombat II, Supergirl, Clayface, Digger, and Evil Dead Burn. These announcements underscore a year of aggressive growth for Warner Bros. As they continue to expand their cinematic offerings across multiple genres.
