AIK forward Erik Flataker has not played a single minute in the 2026 Allsvenskan season ahead of Sunday’s match against Kalmar FF.
The 21-year-old Norwegian was sidelined for approximately two weeks due to illness, which he described as possibly influenza. He first felt symptoms three to four days before AIK’s season opener against Halmstad and spent three days resting on the couch despite being on the bench for the match.
Flataker said he pushed himself too hard during the Halmstad game while taking pain medication, which may have prolonged his recovery.
He confirmed he has now returned to full fitness and feels ready to play, stating his form is good and he is “up towards 100 percent.”
Regarding his lack of playing time, Flataker said he hopes and believes it was due to his illness, though he has not spoken directly with the coach about it.
He admitted it has been frustrating to watch from the sidelines but remains focused on contributing when called upon.
The striker faces strong competition for the starting striker position from Kevin Filling and Taha Ayari.
AIK opened their 2026 Allsvenskan campaign with a 1-0 victory over Halmstad.
The upcoming match against Kalmar FF is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2026.
