Porsche Cuts Three Subsidiaries to Focus on Core Business

Porsche AG announced on May 8, 2026, that it is implementing a sweeping strategic realignment to sharpen its focus on core business operations, a move that includes the discontinuation of three subsidiaries and the reduction of more than 500 jobs.

The decision to shutter these units comes as part of a broader effort by the luxury automaker to streamline its portfolio. This restructuring follows the company’s planned divestment of its stakes in the Rimac Group and Bugatti Rimac.

CEO Dr. Michael Leiters emphasized that returning to the company’s primary strengths is essential for future stability. “Porsche must refocus on its core business. This is the indispensable foundation for a successful strategic realignment,” Leiters stated, adding that the process “forces us to make painful cuts — including our subsidiaries.”

The subsidiaries slated for closure are Cellforce Group GmbH, based in Kirchentellinsfurt; Porsche eBike Performance GmbH, based in Ottobrunn; and Cetitec GmbH, based in Pforzheim. The move highlights a shift in the company’s approach to emerging technologies and niche markets.

Within the powertrain sector, the company revealed that Cellforce Group GmbH no longer possesses a “sufficiently viable long-term perspective” under Porsche’s current technology-open powertrain strategy. Management is initiating discussions with the works council regarding the closure, which will affect approximately 50 employees.

Similarly, the company is exiting the high-performance e-bike drive system market. Porsche eBike Performance GmbH, which was established to develop and market these systems globally, will be discontinued due to “fundamentally changed market conditions.”

This strategic pivot suggests a more disciplined approach to capital allocation as the automotive industry faces evolving demand and technological transitions. By shedding non-core assets, Porsche aims to solidify the operational foundation necessary to navigate its long-term strategic goals.
