Abu Dhabi Enhances Emergency Preparedness & Response System

Abu Dhabi is bolstering its emergency preparedness system to address regional challenges, officials announced on Saturday, March 14, 2026. The move underscores the emirate’s commitment to maintaining stability and ensuring the safety of residents amid evolving geopolitical conditions.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi, recently reviewed the ecosystem of the Unified Medical Operations Command Center. The center, launched by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi in collaboration with public and private medical institutions, aims to establish a smart healthcare system capable of effectively and efficiently handling various emergencies, disasters, and crises.

According to a press release from the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the center’s readiness and response model – the first of its kind globally – incorporates a smart system that includes regulatory frameworks and governance principles for responding to emergencies across the emirate. This encompasses procedures for response and coordination before hospital admission, through hospital access and coordination of healthcare services, and support for medical personnel.

The system similarly focuses on ensuring the availability of strategic medical supplies throughout the emirate, contributing to the enhancement of community health and safety. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed also inspected the operate of the readiness and response system at the center on March 8, 2026, according to the official WAM (Emirates News Agency) report.
