Peter Greene, a character actor best known for his villainous roles in films like “Pulp Fiction” and “The Mask,” has died at the age of 60. He was found dead in his New York apartment on Friday, according to his manager.

Greene gained recognition for portraying a variety of criminals and antagonists throughout his career, which began when he was 20 years old. His performance as Zed, a sadistic rapist and security guard, in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film “Pulp Fiction” remains particularly memorable.

The cause of death has not been revealed.

Born on October 8, 1965, in Montclair, New Jersey, Greene consistently delivered compelling performances as on-screen villains, cementing his place in the landscape of 90s crime cinema.

“Nobody played a bad guy better than Peter, but he also had a gentle side that most people never saw, and a golden heart,” Greene’s manager, Greg Edwards, told NBC News.
