Aigars Ruņģis, a former co-owner of SIA “Valmiermuižas alus,” has established a new company, SIA “Zemes garša,” according to information from the Latvian business registry “Firmas.lv.”
The newly formed company has a share capital of €2,800, with Ruņģis serving as its chairman of the board.
The company was registered with the Enterprise Register on Tuesday, March 24. “Zemes garša’s” legal address is in Valmiera.
Ruņģis told the LETA news agency that the company is currently only registered, and operations have not yet begun. He did not provide further comment regarding the company’s future activities at this time.
Ruņģis announced his departure from “Valmiermuižas alus” in January of this year, following the acquisition of the brewery’s shares by AS “Cēsu alus.”
“Valmiermuižas alus” was previously wholly owned by SIA “Valmiermuižas ieguldījumu fonds,” in which SIA “Rungis,” solely owned by Ruņģis, held a 60% stake. An additional 24% was held by Austrian investment fund “Industrieliegenschaftenvervaltungs,” and 16% by “MVF40 Beteiligungs,” registered in Austria.
“Valmiermuižas alus” reported a turnover of €10.5 million in 2025, a 5% increase compared to the previous year, according to company reports. The move comes as the Latvian brewing sector continues to witness consolidation and shifts in ownership.
