Albert Heijn Drives Sales with Aggressive “Buy More, Save More” Promotions
Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn is currently running a series of promotions offering substantial discounts, including “buy two, get three free” offers, on a wide range of products. The deals, tracked by promotional website Promojagers, are attracting shoppers with significant savings potential.
The current wave of discounts features deals on household staples and personal care items. Five bottles of Tahiti shower gel are available for €6.98, a reduction from the usual price of €17.45. Five Knorr pasta cups are priced at €3.98, equating to €0.79 per cup. Lindahls protein milk is offered in a 1+2 gratis promotion, with three bottles available for €2.29.
Coca-Cola (1.5 liter bottles) is part of a 2+1 offer, with 18 bottles selling for €27.78, or approximately €1.03 per liter. BAVET pasta sauces, Alpro and Heinz products are also included in 1+1 gratis promotions. Granny Smith apples are being sold with a 50% discount, priced at €1.23 per kilogram, and Les Pains bread (700g) is available for €0.99, down from €2.49.
Promojagers, a community focused on identifying and sharing promotional deals, has seen significant engagement with the Albert Heijn offers. One user reported saving €47.98, while another shopper commented they received more discount than they paid. These types of promotions are not new for Albert Heijn, as the retailer ran a similar “hamsteractie” – a term used in the Netherlands and Belgium to describe bulk-buying promotions – on July 5, 2025.
In addition to food items, Albert Heijn is also offering deals on household products. Verstegen spice jars are available with a 2+3 gratis promotion through March 15, 2026. Finish and Sun dishwashing products are also part of a 2+3 gratis offer, also valid through March 15, 2026. Dreft laundry detergent and fabric softeners are available with a 1+2 gratis promotion, also ending March 15, 2026. Herta finesse chicken or turkey fillet is offered with a 1+2 gratis promotion, also valid until March 15, 2026.
Other promotions include an air fryer plus six free snack packs, available through March 15, 2026, and a Soehnle digital kitchen scale for €9.99. KitchenAid baking supplies are available for €11.95, and Atelier Roger van Damme baking mixes are priced at €7.99, reduced from €4.79. All Carolin and WC-Net products are available for €13.77, reduced from an unstated original price.
Albert Heijn’s aggressive promotional strategy reflects the competitive landscape of the European supermarket sector, where retailers frequently employ discounts to attract and retain customers. The company is also offering customers the option to receive email alerts when new promotions turn into available, signaling a focus on customer engagement and loyalty.
