Recent police raids on two massage parlors in the capital have uncovered a situation that, according to neighbors, had been known and tolerated for years. The investigation centers around a prostitution case and Alina Cotabiță, the widow of the late artist Gabriel Cotabiță, was among those detained by law enforcement and subsequently placed under house arrest.
For cancan.ro, Adriana Bahmuțeanu, who lives near one of the parlors targeted in the searches, describes the nightmare she and other residents in the area have reportedly endured for years. The celebrity claims the authorities’ intervention came as no surprise to those living nearby, and was, in fact, long anticipated.
According to Adriana Bahmuțeanu, constant noise, a suspiciously high volume of foot traffic, and the location’s 24/7 operation raised numerous concerns.
“The things that I and my neighbors have seen are related to the fact that there was always a lot of people there. Every night, until morning, people were entering and leaving that establishment. Groups of young people, older individuals, people from the Classic Town would arrive by taxi. There was a constant flow of activity. I’m surprised the police took so long to notice this, because it was well known what was happening there. There were many complaints made by neighbors. There was heavy traffic. It was worse than in the Epstein files,” Bahmuțeanu stated.
She added, “Often, those girls would come to the bar below my apartment. Even on the night the police raided and dismantled, so to speak, there was a party at the bar below me and the girls were being helped into cars and across the street, because there was a lot of snow.”
Adriana Bahmuțeanu Claims Residents Attempted to File Complaints
Bahmuțeanu further claims that residents who tried to file complaints were repeatedly discouraged. Instead of receiving support, some were warned they risked fines if they persisted. Ironically, the celebrity herself was issued a penalty after briefly stopping in front of the parlor to unload a rug from her car.
“The only thing is that no one seemed to see anything. We, the neighbors here, had reached the point where we were threatened with fines if we made any more complaints. As citizens, we weren’t allowed to make complaints, even though there were illegal activities that bothered us. Instead, they were allowed to operate freely.
Probably this ‘brothel’ lost its support. Probably the person who was behind it is no longer in office or is no longer supported.
I don’t believe an 80-year-old woman could have done this. She was just a figurehead. The question is who was actually behind her. Probably someone with a position, either in the security services or in the police, who is now either retired or sidelined, or someone wants to get back at them.
For me, it’s remarkably clear that it couldn’t have operated for so long in plain sight without support. Often the police would come, there were reports, people would argue or fight, we don’t know what was happening inside. The police have come before, this isn’t the first time. I can’t say I saw any well-known people, because I wasn’t staring out the window, but expensive cars and people who looked wealthy were arriving,” she also said.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities will determine the full extent of the illegal activity and the responsibility of everyone involved in this case that has shaken the peace of a neighborhood in the capital.
