AMD has released FSR 4.1, a new upscaling technology for its Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards. The update utilizes the same core algorithm as Sony’s recently released PSSR technology for the PlayStation 5 Pro, signaling a growing convergence in graphics upscaling techniques.

Mark Cerny, a key figure behind the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles, tested the new FSR version and stated, “I just tried FSR Upscaling 4.1 on a few PC games. It’s based on the same neural network as the updated PSSR we released for the PS5 Pro and it looks really great!”

Early demonstrations of FSR 4.1, initially tested in Crimson Desert, demonstrate significant improvements in clarity for moving images, reduced visual artifacts, increased detail, and enhanced performance modes. The update is arriving via the Adrenalin Edition 26.3.1 software and will initially be exclusive to the Radeon RX 9000 series, according to reports.

This development highlights the ongoing efforts to improve visual fidelity and performance in gaming, leveraging artificial intelligence to deliver higher-quality graphics even on less powerful hardware.
