Latvian singer Aminata Savadogo made a striking statement at the GAMMA awards ceremony, appearing in a vibrant red suit – wide-leg trousers and an oversized jacket. The bold color choice isn’t a one-time event; Savadogo similarly sported bright red attire during her November concert and even dressed the choir and herself in red for her role hosting the show Koru kari.
“Red is my favorite color. It gives me strength and self-confidence,” the singer told Privātā Dzīve magazine, proudly holding her GAMMA award – a gold-colored crown. The win recognizes Savadogo as the year’s best solo artist, a testament to her continued impact on the Latvian music scene.
Following her acclaimed concert last year, Savadogo took a brief hiatus from performing. When asked about her time away from the spotlight, she shared, “It was wonderful. Thinking about what I will do next. I have many plans that I will also start to implement. I plan to actively perform concerts this summer.”
Earlier this year, Savadogo celebrated her 33rd birthday. “I think this is a wonderful age,” she said. “I feel very comfortable – mature and not classic. Young enough.”
Savadogo expressed her gratitude for the recognition, noting she was nominated in three categories at the awards show. “It’s a pleasure to be among such Latvian artists as Dons and Prāta vētra. It was a powerful year in which my team and I place in a lot of work. It’s nice that it’s noticed,” she noted.
Rumors circulated last year that Savadogo, who married two years ago, was expecting a child. When asked about how motherhood has changed her life, the singer remained private, stating simply: “I will not comment on my private life.”
