German Satirist Andreas Rebers Brings Second Solo Reveal to Vienna
May 2, 2026, 7:05 PM
Andreas Rebers, 68, one of Germany’s most prominent and provocative political satirists, is bringing his second solo show to Vienna. Following “I warat jetzt do,” “I bleibat jetzt do” marks the latest offering from the passionate cabaret performer. The new show represents a significant departure from his previous work. Where the premiere of “I warat jetzt do” two years ago felt somewhat fragmented, piecing together elements from earlier programs tailored for an Austrian audience, “I bleibat jetzt do” debuted on March 19 as a thoroughly refined and almost entirely new production. It’s arguably his most compelling and engaging solo performance to date, offering a pointed analysis of global, political, and societal concerns, and boldly confronting prevailing trends.
Rebers, who maintains a second home in Vienna, analyzes the anxieties of the modern world with a uniquely incisive wit. He presents a “thick-headed thinker’s front” to the excesses of the zeitgeist, as one publication noted. He will be performing live on May 10 at the Wiener Stadtsaal.
“I bleibat jetzt do” (Pressetext) explores the question of leaving Germany, and conversely, the reasons to stay in Austria. Despite being “left-leaning and wealthy,” Rebers clarifies that his decision isn’t driven by political persecution or tax evasion. “The cabaret genius” (Falter) simply enjoys performing in Austria and appreciates what he calls the “Austrian Way,” regardless of where it leads.
