Complaints of “anxiety” and “obsessions” have also surfaced regarding the Oura Ring and the Whoop strap. However, the Apple Watch, as the most popular health monitor, has received the brunt of the criticism directed at these ‘fitness’ devices. This highlights the challenges of balancing data-driven health insights with mental wellbeing.

Some users are opting for less intrusive smartphone apps, although others are defending the Apple Watch, stating that its rings motivate them to be more active and track their health metrics. The debate underscores the individual nature of how people interact with and respond to personal health technology.
