Ubisoft Enhances Assassin’s Creed Shadows on PS5 Pro with Version 1.1.10 Update
Ubisoft has released Title Update 1.1.10 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on April 7, 2026, introducing a series of technical refinements aimed at maximizing the capabilities of the PlayStation 5 Pro. The version 1.1.10 update specifically focuses on improving performance and visual fidelity, signaling Ubisoft’s commitment to utilizing Sony’s latest hardware to push the boundaries of the Anvil Engine.
A primary highlight of the April 7 patch is the addition of PSSR 2 compatibility, which enhances the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution technology. This AI-driven upscaling allows the game to maintain high visual clarity while optimizing frame rates, contributing to what Ubisoft describes as the “ultimate experience on consoles.”
The PS5 Pro version of *Shadows* leverages three core hardware advantages over the standard console: a faster GPU, enhanced ray tracing capabilities via BVH8 support, and the aforementioned PSSR. These advancements allow the developers to implement a runtime, ray-traced lighting pipeline, moving away from the limited flexibility of pre-baked global illumination. This shift enables lighting to adapt dynamically to in-game events, creating a more immersive and responsive world.
Technical analysis indicates a “generational divide” in lighting fidelity between the base PS5 and the Pro model. While the standard console relies on baked GI—which can result in a flat appearance and artificial-looking foliage—the PS5 Pro introduces per-pixel ray-traced global illumination (RTGI) even in performance mode. This allows for realistic indirect diffuse lighting and significantly improved shadow detail, particularly in dense forest environments.
Players can choose between three distinct modes: Quality, Balanced, and Performance. Earlier optimizations, such as those found in Title Update 1.0.2, already introduced ray-traced reflections to the Balanced mode. With the latest patch notes for version 1.1.10, Ubisoft continues to refine these systems to ensure the game fully showcases the increased power of Sony’s flagship hardware.
