Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Ubisoft confirmed that support for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is winding down as the game approaches its one-year anniversary, having launched on March 20 of last year. Jean Guesdon noted that updates will become less frequent and smaller in scope, though the team promises a few remaining surprises. Development teams are now shifting their focus to future projects within the Assassin’s Creed universe, building on recent parkour refinements implemented based on player feedback.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe

Assassin’s Creed Hexe remains one of Ubisoft’s most closely guarded projects. Set in the 17th century during the Holy Roman Empire, the game will be set against the backdrop of witch trials and hunts. Jean Guesdon, serving as creative director, promises “a unique, significantly darker narrative experience.” Ubisoft intends to dedicate more time to the project to fully realize its ambitious vision, and will remain relatively quiet regarding new details for the time being.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus

Assassin’s Creed Invictus represents a new approach to multiplayer within the Assassin’s Creed world. The project is being developed by veterans from Ubisoft Montreal’s For Honor team. Guesdon clarified that the game will not be exactly as some rumors have suggested, and Ubisoft plans to engage the community early in the development process, with potential tests and consultations to refine the gameplay.

Assassin’s Creed Live-Action Series

The Assassin’s Creed universe is similarly expanding beyond gaming. Ubisoft confirmed that Netflix has commissioned a live-action Assassin’s Creed series, with producers who previously worked on “Westworld” and “Halo” involved in the project. Guesdon indicated that more information will be available soon.

Other Projects and Plans

Ubisoft also confirmed the existence of several other titles in development, including Assassin’s Creed Jade, a mobile game set in ancient China. The company also stated it is re-evaluating the possibility of incorporating cooperative gameplay into future installments of the series, after a previous attempt was cancelled, with lessons learned informing a new approach.

Ubisoft is demonstrating a clear commitment to the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The series is poised to deliver a diverse range of experiences in the coming years—from the dark narrative of Assassin’s Creed Hexe to the multiplayer experimentation of Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus, alongside the upcoming Netflix series and other projects in the pipeline. This expansion highlights the enduring appeal of the Assassin’s Creed universe and Ubisoft’s strategy for continued growth within the gaming landscape.
