Latvian pop group Astro’n’out celebrated the premiere of their new concert film, “Mūc,” on Tuesday, March 24th, bringing together devoted fans for a special event.
The film captures the energy and intimacy of the band’s acoustic tour of the same name, which took place across six Latvian cities last year. According to reports, the concerts were known for their cozy atmosphere and personal conversations with the audience, including discussions about sustainability and everyday habits.
Astro’n’out, formed in Riga in 2003, consists of Māra Upmane-Holšteine (vocals), Juris Kalnišs (guitar, electronics), Mārtiņš Elerts (guitar, electronics), Toms Poišs (bass), and Mārtiņš Opmanis (drums). The band has a long history of using their platform for social good, having contributed music to documentaries like “Rīga, Mana Rīga” and “No cita skatupunkta,” as well as participating in various charitable initiatives.
The band also created the anthem for the RIMI Pet Club, titled “Ķepu cilvēks.” They’ve also been involved in campaigns promoting healthy lifestyles, including the Ministry of Health’s anti-passive smoking initiative, “Izvairies no smēķētāja!”
The tour documented in “Mūc” saw the band challenge themselves to address sustainability issues, a theme explored both on stage and behind the scenes. A mini-series documenting the band’s preparation for the tour and their sustainability experiment culminated in the film. This release underscores the growing trend of musicians integrating environmental consciousness into their work and touring practices.
