Auchan is expanding its discount retail footprint in Romania with the opening of its tenth ATAC store, and the second in Bucharest. The modern location, ATAC Super Discount, officially opened its doors on Thursday, March 5th, offering a streamlined shopping experience focused on low prices and bulk discounts.
Located on Str. Brașov nr. 23C, across from Drumul Taberei Park, the over 2,200 square meter store boasts approximately 6,000 different items. A team of 55 employees will serve customers daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The location also features a 200-space parking lot, with designated spots for customers with disabilities and families with young children, and offers two hours of free parking, according to a company statement.
This Drumul Taberei location marks the first ATAC Super Discount store, a concept designed for “simple shopping: low prices and cascading discounts for larger volumes, quick shopping, close to home,” ATAC representatives stated. The move reflects a growing trend in the retail sector towards value-focused shopping experiences.
“For two decades we have been developing a modern, multi-format and multi-channel commerce, adapted to increasingly diverse consumer needs, and the new super discount is part of this evolution,” said Ioana Toșa, Sales Director at Auchan Retail Romania. “ATAC is a concept with solid results, which has demonstrated its relevance in the market, and its expansion marks a new strategic step for us. We maintain the ATAC DNA based on low prices on a large scale and cascading discounts, which we bring into an environment adapted to the urban pace: fast, accessible and close to home, suitable for both families and compact entrepreneurs.”
Currently, the ATAC network includes nine hyper discount stores in cities across Romania – Brașov, Ploiești, Timișoara, Târgu Mureș, Galați, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Bucharest (Chitila), and Oradea – in addition to the new super discount store in Bucharest (Drumul Taberei).
