Audi Sport is releasing a limited-edition version of the RS 3, the RS 3 competition limited, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its five-cylinder engine. The model will be produced in a run of just 750 units worldwide, making it a particularly exclusive offering within the RS lineup. The company states this special series combines exceptional performance with a distinctive character and the iconic sound of the 2.5 TFSI engine.
An adjustable coilover suspension and a stiffer rear stabilizer further enhance the model’s dynamic performance, while exclusive carbon fiber exterior elements and a customized interior accentuate its focused design. Only two vehicles from this special series will be available to customers in Latvia.
The legacy of the five-cylinder engine began in 1976 with the second-generation Audi 100 and today reaches new heights with the RS 3 competition limited. To mark “50 years of five cylinders,” Audi Sport is endowing the RS 3 with a number of upgrades that are expected to make this series particularly desirable among collectors. The car’s exclusivity is underscored not only by the limited production run of 750 units, but also in every detail.
Exterior: A More Dynamic Design and Carbon Fiber Accents
The RS 3 competition limited further accentuates the model’s recognizable features. The expressive Singleframe grille, large air intakes, and redesigned front bumper shape create an even more dynamic and aggressive front complete. Special historical and thematic emblems further enhance the model’s individuality.
The character of the special series is defined by matte carbon fiber exterior details – including front canard elements, a split lower edge of the front bumper, mirror housings, side skirts, a rear spoiler, and trim surrounding the rear aerodynamic diffuser. These elements combine to create a wider and more technically expressive silhouette.
The sporty look is complemented by 19-inch wheels with a special ten-spoke design in a matte Neodymium Gold finish, as well as a model designation on the rear side window. Tinted Matrix LED headlights give the car a special light signature, demonstrating a unique 1-2-4-5-3 light sequence when unlocking or locking the vehicle, referencing the ignition order of the five-cylinder engine.
The model is available in three body colors – Daytona Gray, matte Glacier White, and the exclusive Malachite Green, a historic Audi Sport color inspired by the legendary Audi Sport quattro rally era.
The Five-Cylinder Engine: An Unforgettable Character and Performance
At the heart of the model is the legendary 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder engine, producing 294 kW (400 hp) and 500 Nm of torque. Unique in its segment, it accelerates the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and provides a maximum speed of up to 290 km/h.
No less important is the engine’s unmistakable sound, created by the characteristic 1-2-4-5-3 ignition sequence. The RS sports exhaust system with fully variable valve control enhances the acoustic character, while reduced sound insulation allows the engine sound to be enjoyed even more vividly in the cabin.
In Audi drive select modes dynamic, RS Performance and RS Torque Rear, the exhaust system valves open earlier, creating an even more pronounced and emotional sound experience.
Driving Dynamics: Coilover Suspension for Maximum Precision
For the first time, the RS 3 competition limited is equipped with a specially developed coilover suspension, providing more precise handling, reduced body roll, and increased stability. The three-stage adjustable dampers allow individual adjustment of compression and rebound, precisely tuning the chassis performance.
A new, stiffer rear stabilizer improves the precision and stability of the rear axle in curves, while the torque splitter actively distributes torque between the rear wheels, improving the car’s dynamics. Standard ceramic brakes ensure consistent performance even under high loads.
Together with optimized aerodynamic elements, these improvements provide even greater stability, more precise handling, and increased driver confidence during dynamic driving. Rebound adjustment is available in 16 stages, allowing the driver to precisely tailor the car’s response: greater rebound damping provides particularly direct and precise handling, while less damping provides greater comfort.
Interior: Exclusive Design and a Sporty Digital Environment
The interior design is dominated by black with Neodymium Gold and Ginger White accents. The model designation is projected onto the ground when the doors are opened, and is also visible on the floor mats, headrests, and luggage compartment. Each vehicle features an individual serial number on the center console.
RS bucket seats with black leather side bolsters and a Neodymium Gold Dinamica microfiber center provide better lateral support in curves. Ginger White contrasting stitching and matte carbon fiber trim on the seatbacks further enhance the sporty character.
A 10.1-inch touchscreen and the Audi virtual cockpit provide access to essential information – power and torque figures, G-forces, lap times, and the temperature of drive components. The steering wheel with a flattened upper and lower section and a Ginger White steering wheel center marker honors Audi’s five-cylinder heritage.
