Manama, Bahrain – March 24, 2026 – An Emirati service member was killed and several Bahraini and Emirati military personnel were injured while confronting Iranian attacks, Bahrain announced Tuesday.
The Bahrain Defense Force’s General Command stated in an official statement carried by the Bahrain News Agency that it “mourns with great sadness and sorrow the martyr of duty from the armed forces of the sisterly United Arab Emirates, whose pure soul ascended to its Creator while performing his national duty alongside his brothers in the Bahrain Defense Force in confronting the malicious Iranian attacks.”
The statement continued, announcing that “a number of its personnel and their brothers from the armed forces of the United Arab Emirates were injured while performing their national duty in confronting the Iranian attacks.”
The incident underscores escalating regional instability as tensions between Iran and Gulf nations continue to rise. Recent reports indicate a pattern of attacks and counter-attacks, raising concerns about broader conflict in the region. Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have all reported intercepting missiles and drones originating from Iran.
According to Bahraini officials, the country has intercepted 145 rockets and 246 drones since the beginning of Iranian attacks on February 28. The announcement could influence future diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.
Twenty-one countries, including the UAE and Bahrain, recently issued a joint statement calling on Iran to immediately cease threats to maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on oil and gas facilities.
