The Baseus Security X1 Pro is a versatile wireless outdoor security camera offering easy installation, dual independent 3K cameras with a 300-degree field of view, crisp image quality, solid battery life, and a built-in 3W self-regulating solar panel. It also supports local storage up to 512GB and includes intelligent features like two-way talk, patrol mode, and compatibility with Alexa and Google Assistant.

The camera isn’t without a few minor drawbacks. Specifically, if the 2.4 GHz WiFi connection is unreliable, users may experience occasional delays when accessing the live feed and fine-tuning settings. The zoom functionality on the X1 Pro felt somewhat lacking in capturing finer details.

The Baseus Security X1 Pro is currently available for $199 through Amazon. The Baseus Amazon store is also offering a $30 off coupon for a limited time, bringing the price down to $169. Notably, the camera supports local storage up to 512GB. The lack of cloud fees and monthly subscriptions is a significant selling point.

Outdoor security cameras are becoming increasingly intelligent, moving beyond simple recording to incorporate AI-powered features like motion detection and object tracking. Baseus’ latest offering, the X1 Pro, is no exception, reflecting a broader trend of innovation in the smart home security space.

I’ve been testing the X1 Pro for several days, and aside from a few minor quirks, this outdoor camera from Baseus doesn’t present any major drawbacks.

The Baseus Security X1 Pro boasts a rather unique design compared to most security cameras I’ve seen. Unlike many cameras that lean towards a compact form factor, the X1 Pro is a bit bulkier. It houses dual independent lenses, a large 7800mAh battery, dual PIR sensors, and a motorized 3W solar panel, all within a single enclosure, contributing to its larger size.

Measuring 5.07 x 4.31 x 3.11 inches (128.7 x 109.4 x 78.7 mm) and weighing around 1.4 kg, the sci-fi drone-styled X1 Pro features a practical design that addresses a real-world problem. Specifically, the camera effectively functions as two cameras thanks to the motorized rotating mount, which allows for a 300-degree field of view.

In terms of build quality, the X1 Pro’s construction from sturdy plastic feels solid and reasonably premium in hand. It also carries an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance. On the body, you’ll locate a USB-C port and a microSD card slot, along with a sync button. It also includes a dedicated speaker capable of producing up to 90 dB of volume. On the front, there’s a microphone and an LED indicator.

Setting up the Baseus Security X1 Pro was a straightforward process. If this is your first Baseus camera, you’ll necessitate to download the app and create an account. Then, add the selected camera from the list. After selection, press the camera’s sync button and hold it for five seconds. The camera’s name will then pop up; connect to the WiFi, and you’re all set. The entire setup took me less than two minutes.

Installing the X1 Pro is equally simple. You can mount it to virtually any surface, from concrete walls and trees to wooden surfaces. I mounted the X1 Pro to a corner post of my house, which provided a good viewing angle of both sides of my property. Baseus includes a patented three-axis flexible mount that offers multiple mounting angles for the best possible view.

Now, let’s talk features. The Baseus Security X1 Pro is equipped with dual cameras, each offering 3K resolution with up to 8x digital zoom. Each lens provides a 105-degree horizontal field of view, with an additional 55-degree motorized pan. In static mode, it offers 210-degree horizontal coverage. Combining the two lenses, the X1 Pro delivers a 300-degree extended field of view.

Baseus has packed the X1 Pro with a host of features, including intelligent AI detection, automatic patrol, patrol mode, color/black & white night vision, custom privacy zones, automatic solar panel tracking, instant two-way talk, and voice assistant compatibility. Unlike other security cameras, the X1 Pro also supports local storage up to 512GB. This means you don’t need to pay for expensive cloud subscriptions just to store your security footage. This not only saves you money but also gives you complete control over your own data without sacrificing encryption.

During my testing, the Baseus Security X1 Pro performed admirably, delivering excellent video quality. The camera was able to produce vibrant colors while maintaining sharp and detailed images. The camera also supports up to 8x digital zoom, though clarity diminishes at higher zoom levels.

The surveillance gadget also supports full-color and black-and-white IR night vision. At night, the X1 Pro captures good footage with crisp clarity. It features two dedicated 100-lumen spotlights. Activating the spotlights allowed both lenses to provide reasonably good color quality at night, though the colors weren’t as vivid as during the day.

I observed that the siren and spotlights were adequately loud and bright, and the motion detection alerts were accurate and timely. The AI detection was also fairly accurate, easily distinguishing between people, pets, and vehicles. I was particularly impressed with the AI object tracking, which seamlessly follows a subject from camera to camera without any hiccups or lag.

During testing, I did experience occasional delays when accessing the live feed and adjusting settings. This occurred given that the 2.4 GHz WiFi wasn’t strong enough for seamless streaming. For a smoother streaming experience, I recommend positioning the camera as close as possible to the router. Smart home enthusiasts can also integrate it with Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

Regarding battery life, I only charged the security gadget once before installation. After installation, I haven’t needed to recharge it, thanks to the 3W solar panel, which efficiently does its job. Baseus claims that 20 minutes of sunlight provides enough power for a full day of operation.

The X1 Pro supports the Baseus Security companion app, available on both iOS and Android devices. The companion app is very user-friendly and offers all the essential functions. With the security app, you can do pretty much everything, from viewing the split-screen live feed of the two cameras to the timeline playback system, two-way talk, and adjusting the direction. You can record videos, grab pictures, and turn the spotlight, alarms, or night vision on or off.

There’s also a patrol mode, which allows the two independent 3K cameras to automatically rotate and scan your property at pre-set intervals. This mode essentially keeps the cameras moving even when no activity is detected.

If you’re looking for a robust, reliable, subscription-free, feature-rich wireless outdoor security camera with a built-in solar panel, the Baseus Security X1 Pro is a solid choice.
