Remodeling costs for kitchens and bathrooms in Buenos Aires have stabilized in dollar terms over the last quarter, according to a new report, despite continued peso-denominated price increases. The findings offer a snapshot of the construction and renovation market in Argentina, a key indicator for the country’s economic health.

According to the February report from Reporte Inmobiliario, renovating both a kitchen and bathroom in a standard-sized apartment in Buenos Aires requires an investment of approximately $17,513,630, equivalent to $11,793 USD based on the unofficial “blue dollar” exchange rate at the beginning of February. This figure is largely unchanged from the same period in 2025.

Costs for remodeling bathrooms and kitchens decreased in dollar terms last quarter.

The cost of bathroom renovations rose 17.65% year-over-year (January 2025 vs. January 2026) when measured in pesos, but decreased by 3.34% when converted to dollars. Kitchen renovations saw a 15.83% increase in pesos over the same period, with a 4.83% decrease in dollar terms.

“Considering the increases in peso-denominated labor and material costs, and how the dollar has been fluctuating within its band, it’s highly unlikely that costs will fall below this level,” says Germán Gómez Picasso, founder of Reporte Inmobiliario. “it’s always better to remodel today than tomorrow.”

The report indicates that remodeling a 3.75 m² bathroom with a 2.5 m ceiling height costs $8,276,934.

This cost includes labor and materials for replacing water supply and drainage pipes, fixtures, a jacuzzi tub, faucets, and accessories. It similarly covers the replacement of fixtures, a vanity, and a mirror, as well as the installation of lighting, flooring, wall tiles, general painting, and electrical outlets with wiring.

Renovating a 5.6 m² kitchen with a 2.5 m height requires $9,236,696.82, including labor and materials, according to the report’s data. The detailed costs are as follows:

The assessment covers a complete renovation, including demolition, removal of existing furniture and coverings, replacement of pipes (water, drainage, and gas), complete renewal of faucets, fixtures, furniture, and coverings, electrical installation, lighting, and painting.

Some have suggested importing materials as a way to lower costs. However, Gómez Picasso cautions that this will not have a significant impact on traditional construction prices.

“Half the cost of a square meter of construction corresponds to labor, which is fixed. Of the other 50%, 70% are heavy materials produced locally or tough to import. The potential impact is very low,” he details.

According to the specialist, cost changes may occur in industrialized construction, which relies more on imported inputs, standardized processes, and scalability.

How to Avoid Unnecessary Expenses

In this scenario, hiring a professional is key to avoiding surprises in the budget. “The best way to lower costs and carry out a rational renovation is to invest each peso wisely. A professional can advise you what is worth doing and what is not, so that the work makes sense and doesn’t get wasted on unnecessary details,” suggests Gómez Picasso.
