Battlefield 6 and Battlefield RedSec are set to receive a major update on February 17, 2026, with the launch of Season Two. Developers plan to release the 1.2.1.0 update for download at 5:00 PM Taiwan time (9:00 AM UTC) on February 17th, with new seasonal content going live at 8:00 PM (12:00 UTC). This update represents a comprehensive overhaul of the game experience, incorporating over 240 optimizations and quality improvements focused on weapon recoil adjustments, smoother soldier movement, and vehicle balance. This update highlights the ongoing commitment to refining the core gameplay experience for a dedicated player base.

New Content and the “VL-7” Psychological Smoke Gameplay

Season Two introduces the new “Contaminated” map, a European mountain battlefield centered around a German Air Force base, supporting a variety of modes including Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush. The popular “AH-6 Little Bird” attack helicopter also returns to the battlefield, providing powerful mobility and firepower. The seasonal content will be rolled out in three phases: “Extreme Measures,” “Nightfall,” and “Hunter/Prey.”

A key feature of this update is the introduction of the “VL-7” psychological smoke weapon. In limited-time modes, players must constantly monitor their gas mask filters, as depletion will result in hallucinations and disorientation. New weapons include the M121 A2 belt-fed machine gun, the GRT-CPS precision sniper rifle, and the VCR-2 assault rifle, suited for close-quarters combat. New gadgets include the 9K38 IGLA surface-to-air missile, which requires continuous guidance, and the HTI-Mk2 reconnaissance device, capable of detecting and neutralizing enemy electronic equipment.

Major System Updates: Recoil Consistency and Soldier Movement Optimization

Responding to player feedback, the development team has comprehensively addressed the recoil compensation system. Previously, in certain situations, controller or mouse input did not align with in-game recoil, making weapons difficult to control. The updated compensation mechanism is now fully consistent and predictable. All automatic weapons have undergone recoil balancing adjustments to ensure that heavy and light weapons maintain their unique characteristics at different engagement ranges.

Soldier movement will also appear more fluid. Version 1.2.1.0 improves the predictability of soldier movement, adjusts the acceleration curves for sliding and jumping, and fixes logic and animations for climbing ladders and vaulting obstacles. These adjustments aim to make opponent movement appear more natural during close-quarters engagements, enhancing the feel and fairness of shooting.

UI Updates and Battlefield Portal Improvements

On the user interface front, the development team has redesigned the engineer icon for improved recognition, and the blood meter for downed teammates will now display a dynamic effect, clearly indicating who is capable of revival. The player profile now includes a detailed statistics page, allowing players to view lifetime totals, best single-game performances, and earned achievements.

For Battlefield Portal, this update fixes several script errors and server stability issues, and provides more comprehensive creation tools for players.

Finally, this update also corrects numerous map exploits, including unintended area access issues on the Manhattan Bridge and Empire State Building maps, and fixes evacuation missions and armor damage calculations in Battlefield RedSec, striving to provide players with a more stable and realistic battlefield experience.
