Police are investigating a recent burglary in Bergen where valuable items were stolen from a home on February 23, 2026.
The thieves gained entry through a second-story window, a method police recognize from previous incidents.
“The method appears similar to the burglaries that occurred in Fana before Christmas. They removed the window trim and took out the glass,” said police operations leader Knut Dahl-Michelsen.
Two Eastern European men in their 30s and 40s were arrested in Stavanger in December and were suspected of being involved in a string of burglaries in Fana.
“These are not the same perpetrators. Those who were arrested before Christmas are in our custody and remain in detention,” said Kjartan Duesund, police chief inspector at the Bergen South police station.
“Could it be people from the same gang?”
“I don’t grasp,” he replied.
Multiple Burglaries in the Same Area
Police have interviewed the victims and collected evidence at the scene. As of Monday, February 23, 2026, no further burglaries have been reported in the area, authorities said.
According to Fanaposten, this weekend’s burglary is the 12th to occur in the area since January 9.
“There have been several burglaries in this area, but we don’t see a connection between the cases,” officials stated.
Police currently have no suspects in connection with the weekend burglary and are asking for the public’s help.
“If anyone saw anything before, during, or after the incident, we question that they contact us,” police said.
Urgent Appeal for Information
“Does the police have any surveillance footage of the incident?”
“Not to my knowledge,” Duesund responded.
With winter break underway in Bergen this week, many residents are likely planning to travel.
“If you are traveling, we advise you to ask a neighbor to preserve an eye on your home. If they see anything suspicious, they should contact the police, who will investigate,” authorities added. The recent surge in burglaries underscores the importance of neighborhood vigilance.
