Indonesia’s Motorcycle Market Gears Up for 2026 Holiday Travel Season

As the Lebaran holiday approaches in 2026, several motorcycle manufacturers are focusing on models suited for long-distance travel. Despite the increasing popularity of automatic scooters, geared motorcycles remain a preferred choice for intercity journeys requiring stable performance and fuel efficiency, according to industry observers.

Motorcycle manufacturers are responding to the demand with models designed for the rigors of Indonesian roads. The upcoming holiday travel period is a significant economic driver for the automotive sector, prompting companies to emphasize durability and reliability in their offerings.

Honda’s Supra X 125 FI is highlighted as a long-standing option known for its fuel efficiency and dependability. The company notes the model’s ergonomic design contributes to rider comfort over extended distances and its readily available spare parts network across the country provides peace of mind for travelers.

For riders seeking more power, Yamaha’s MX King 150 is presented as a viable alternative. The 150cc engine offers a responsive experience, particularly useful for overtaking larger vehicles on congested routes.

MG Motor Indonesia is also preparing for the holiday rush with its SMILE 2026 program, offering free vehicle inspections at 60 key locations from March 9th to March 27th, 2026. The program aims to ensure customer vehicles are in peak condition before long journeys. The company is also providing discounts of up to 50% on original accessories and guaranteeing the availability of genuine spare parts throughout its dealer network.

MG is further bolstering its support with strategically positioned technicians and standby workshops during peak travel times, alongside a 24-hour emergency assistance service, MG CARE. This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to supporting the annual tradition of homecoming for Indonesians, according to a company statement.

Beyond these specific models, a recent report identifies five additional geared motorcycles considered suitable for daily use and long-distance travel in Indonesia, ranging from 150cc to 250cc engines. Radar Madura reports.

The focus on motorcycle preparedness reflects a broader trend of automotive companies prioritizing customer safety and convenience during peak travel seasons in Indonesia. Xpose Indonesia details the comprehensive nature of MG’s program, including 60-point vehicle checks.
