Bigflo & Oli Stranded in Dubai Amidst Middle East Tensions

Just days before the release of their new album, Karma, scheduled for March 13, French rap duo Bigflo & Oli revealed some unsettling news to their fans. The pair are currently stuck in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after becoming stranded during a layover this weekend when clashes in the region disrupted air travel following strikes in Iran.

Florian and Olivio Ordonez, known professionally as Bigflo & Oli, initially held off on informing their followers while they gathered more information about the situation. It appears their brief stopover has unexpectedly extended.

“Nothing too serious”

“We were just in Nepal, shooting a music video. The video for the song ‘Karma’,” explained Bigflo in an Instagram Story filmed from their hotel room, before his brother added: “Bad luck, we had a two-hour layover and ended up blocked at the airport, blocked in Dubai.”

The elder brother then offered a glimpse of the city, noting that even the sunshine couldn’t entirely alleviate their concerns as the “bizarre” situation disrupted their busy schedule.

“Nothing too serious because sometimes we just hear the sound of missiles, but we still perceive safe,” Oli added. However, the predicament is causing problems for the duo as they prepare to launch their new album, forcing them to reschedule promotional appearances, including a planned interview on Domingo’s Popcorn podcast. “We’re telling you this because we’re postponing some promos and stuff for the album, we’re ten days away from the release,” they lamented. “Domi, sorry,” Bigflo added, addressing the streamer.

It remains to be seen when the rappers will be able to return home, though French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced on France 2 that “several flights” were scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, including one to assist French citizens stranded in the UAE. Other celebrities, such as former Miss France Élodie Gossuin, have also found themselves stuck in Dubai, while travelers have shared their distress after flights from Asia were canceled.
