Black Shark’s new 6 Ultra model includes a radiator and water pump to cool demanding chips.

Xiaomi’s gaming division, Black Shark, is aiming to attract iPhone users with its latest innovation. The company has launched the Black Shark 6 Ultra in China, featuring an external liquid cooling system designed to manage heat from high-performance mobile processors.

External cooling accessories aren’t new to the market, but the Black Shark 6 Ultra distinguishes itself with MagSafe compatibility. The system incorporates a pump, radiator, and fan, all connected to a magnetic plate that attaches to the back of a device. This approach allows for a more streamlined and convenient cooling solution.

Priced around 60 euros, the cooling system utilizes a pump operating at over 1,200 RPM, paired with a 165,900 mm² radiator. The design aims to provide significant thermal management for demanding mobile gaming sessions.

To dissipate the heat extracted from the liquid, Xiaomi integrated a 7-blade fan. The company claims the system can reduce operating temperatures by 56°C, potentially bringing the contact surface down to a theoretical -31°C under heavy load. A TEC (thermoelectric) chip is used to stabilize performance, and an LED screen displays the temperature in real-time. This level of thermal control is increasingly essential as mobile games become more graphically intensive.

Despite its capabilities, the device remains compact, measuring 12.8 mm thick and weighing 69 grams, minimizing added bulk.

A Niche Application

The Black Shark 6 Ultra cooling system is targeted towards a specific niche: competitive mobile gamers playing titles like Genshin Impact or Warzone Mobile. The accessory is designed for users who prioritize sustained performance during extended gaming sessions.

Notably, Xiaomi showcases the product alongside an iPhone 17 Pro in its marketing materials. This echoes a similar strategy employed with its external batteries, suggesting a deliberate effort to appeal to Apple’s user base.
